Fresh homegrown blueberries, anyone?

Here's my fresh fruit photo for Foto Friday at Renaissance.

These blueberries get more color daily!  I love blueberries, but I don't like to pay the exorbitant store prices for them, so I'm glad we have our own.  Maybe I'll get enough to be able to freeze some for winter use.

These bushes have been here over thirty years, my mother in law told me.  Unfortunately, every couple of years a bush dies, so we are down to three.  We are planning to plant more, so that we can continue to enjoy them for many more years.  If you have any tips on planting blueberry bushes, I would love your input!

At last the garden is growing!

After being on vacation for a week, the garden seems to have really grown - at last!

Doesn't this bell pepper look yummy?

There was evidence of deer eating from our beans and tomato plants.  Yesterday in the middle of the afternoon, I saw a doe and two fauns boldly feasting.  Now perhaps when I see deer eating in other peoples' yards, I won't be as quick to say, "Oh, how cute! A deer!"

I call this picture "Brazen Thieves".

If you have ideas for keeping deer out of gardens, please share with me!

I've decided to enter a weekly photo challenge that I read about a few weeks ago.  Just thinking about the challenge has helped me try to improve my photography.  You can find the challenge here

I shoulda known better...

This weekend was so much fun, but too much sun for Eloise!
When I first saw her puffy, red face Sunday morning, I felt terrible and said, "Never again will I let this happen!"  (Optimistic, I know, but a good goal.)  Now that I know whose fair skin she's inherited, we will keep our sunscreen ever present.

Here's Eloise getting ready for another beautiful day.

Look what I have!  (See her poor face?)
Read the directions,
apply liberally,
and of course, taste!

Here is our beautiful garden, ready for planting!

A Welcome Sunny Day!

Today the weather was so nice, we were outside working all afternoon - until the clouds rolled in and the rain began to pour!

Eloise thoroughly enjoys being outside, where she has so many news things to see!  For example, she loved watching her daddy running the bobcat to move dirt for the garden.
